With the rough bits of unmashed bananas, any potential “branniness” pretty much disappears. Make an experiment by having them measure 1 cup into a container and then measure three 1/3 cups into a separate container. Many a times, I have came across scone recipes in books and other resources whereby the taste is savoury in nature. However, re-publishing a recipe in any form is strictly prohibited. This too can be used for baking if you want a stronger taste in your baked goods. I don’t really notice the wheatiness that much–maybe it’s because the spices and chopped apples give this muffin such a good flavor. Added some cinnamon, nixed the vanilla as I had none. My previous issues with scones are that they tend to be dry, tasteless, and resemble eating cardboard. It is a cross between a bread and a cake. I ask because I found them to be a bit too moist the next day. Pure maple syrup is very sweet, and you don’t need a lot of it to sweeten your baked goods. Baking soda requires an acidic ingredient such as buttermilk or cream of tartar to make it rise, while baking powder does not. Add the buttermilk, and stir until just combined.

YUM! 1 (16 ounce) Can Refrigerated Biscuit Dough, 8 big biscuits, I used Pillsbury Grands! I made standard-size muffins, which I took out after baking between 30 and 35 minutes, since they smelled as though they were done and the timer said so, too. Only two bowls are needed to make the batter. Add the brown sugar and vanilla, and stir until the sugar has melted (heat for an additional 30 seconds in the microwave if necessary). In a saucepan, melt the brown sugar, butter and water until bubbly.

Cut in half and flatten each half into a round disc each about 6 1/4 inches (16 cm) in diameter. Bake the muffins for 20 to 22 minutes, until a cake tester or toothpick inserted into the middle of one of the center muffins comes out clean. Add white chocolate pieces and raisins; stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Gather the dough into a ball and knead it gently against the sides and bottom of the bowl 5 to 10 times, turning and pressing any loose pieces into the dough each time until they adhere and the bowl is fairly clean.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside. 2. Boil two or three rolls for 2 minutes per side. Using the tips of your fingers, two knives (hold one knife in each hand), or a pastry blender, mash the butter quickly into the flour mixture until it looks like cornmeal, with some bigger pieces of butter still visible. These scones come together in less than 30 minutes and are best served warm from the oven. Using a slotted spoon, remove the rolls, drain, and place on the baking sheet, cut side up. This is one of those times you want to leave the butter in the refrigerator until you need it.
